When The Moon Comes Up

Sandra Boynton’s The Going To Bed Book is one of my son’s favorites (he is 19 months old). He insists on reading it almost every night before sleep.  I will admit that it is a fun & comical book to read, though I think my son likes it mostly because it has animals, which fascinate him as of lately.

This photograph was taken during a recent full moon.  My original intention was to capture the fascinating cloud patterns of that particular night.  By the time I was ready to shoot however, the clouds had mostly dispersed. Determined to get some shots that night, I wondered what it would be like to capture the radiant glow that seemed to emanate from behind the house, due to the low position of the moon. Experimenting with various long exposure times, this was one of the resulting images.
