Not All Hope Is Lost
Taken on a cloudy day at a beach in Sheboygan, WI. It seems like this area gets a lot more fog than in Chicago.

Looking Upon Us
Every time I go on one of the Chicago River boat tours, I am always left in awe by all the amazing architecture. The towering man-made structures rising from both sides of the River, each with its own rich history. It is one of the reasons why I love this city so much.

In D Minor
Rockefeller Chapel in Hyde Park, Chicago
I love classical music. Growing up my parents made me take piano lessons, so I have always been well acquainted with the works of Bach, Beethoven and other famous composers.
It wasn’t until some time in college that I started appreciating classical music. I just find it to be very calming and soothing, especially during hectic days.
I’m hoping that my son will also grow up to appreciate classical music. It is never too early to start, which is why I have it on in the car most of the time we are riding in the car :)

Concert On The Rocks
Red Rock Amphitheater in Morrison, CO. Astonishing outdoor concert venue that borrows from the natural landscape.

Clashing Skies
155 North Wacker Drive building in the Chicago loop area. As we were driving downtown on Father’s Day, I noticed that the clouds were moving fairly fast. The first thought that came to my mind was ‘this is a perfect time to take some long exposure shots’. All that I needed was a cool looking building to act as my main subject. Which is where this particular building comes in. All that I could remember was the Ernest & Young sign up front (it is how I eventually was able to look up the address).

Robie House
Wonder what Frank Lloyd Wright would think of what I did here :)

Embrace
Yellow daylily growing in my backyard. I actually did not know what they were called until just now, as I scrambled to search online for its name (surprisingly I was able to find it by just googling ‘yellow perennial flower’).
I’m actually quite fond of them, because they require zero maintenance, and they are guaranteed to come out and bloom every year. Or at least I am crossing my fingers.

The Reg
A couple fun facts about the Regenstein Library, which is the main library of the University of Chicago:
1. It was built on the grounds of the old Stagg football field. Just shows how much the university values sports.
2. The outline of the building resembles an outline of the United States.
3. It has some very comfortable sofas, which are good for napping.
4. Oh, and it holds one of the largest book collections in the world.

The Montgomery Ward Company Complex
Formerly the headquarters of the now defunct Montgomery Ward, the country’s oldest mail order company, The Montgomery Ward Company Complex is now a series of luxury condominiums. A National Historic Landmark, the complex is also notable for being home to companies such as Groupon and Dyson.

Urban Decay
Last week I posted a number of long exposure shots taken at the Fullerton Beach. I did however take a regular exposure shot prior to each long one, primarily in order to review the composition. This photograph is one of the ‘test’ shots.
As I was editing my photos, I discovered how fascinating this one looked in black & white. What I like about it the most is the amount of detail that shows up in the image.
Or maybe some will find it too busy.
