Washed Ashore

One from this morning. Hoping for a beautiful sunrise, I was instead greeted by dull skies.
Perhaps due to the warmer weather, there were two other photographers joining me.
Now I just need some coffee…

Swept Away

I woke up early on Saturday morning hoping to catch the sunrise by the South Pier. I was instead greeted by heavy fog. To make matters worse, it was very windy and cold. After a few minutes of walking around, I noticed that condensation had formed on the surface of my camera. Disappointed, I turned around and headed for the car, since I didn’t want the camera to get water damage.
As I headed back home, I decided to quickly check out the lighthouse (I really didn’t want to go home empty handed, especially since I woke up at 5). Luckily by then, the fog had subsided a bit. I stood by the edge of the pier on some rocks, and took a few shots.
As The Light Shines Upon Us
Sheboygan, WI
Taken this past Saturday during sunrise. As I walked out the door, I was greeted by some of the most beautiful colors in the sky. I quickly drove up to the lake (which luckily is only 10 minutes away), and made my way down to the shoreline (note to self: wet rocks are slippery :)). Set my ND filter, and voila.

Most of the snow has melted, though I am still waiting for signs of spring’s arrival.
So We Meet Again…
I made the decision to wake up before sunrise yesterday morning and go to the lake to take some photos. Hoping for a spectacular sunrise, I was instead greeted with a grey cloudy sky. Certain something I could work with, since clouds can create some pretty interesting long exposure photographs.
The pathway to the lighthouse was completely covered with layers upon layers of ice and snow. It was the kind that was very difficult to walk on, as every step was met with ice that crushed upon contact. This was most definitely the biggest challenge I’ve taken for the sake of photography.
The funny thing is that as I was trying to steady myself along the way, someone just casually jogged past by me, as if he were floating on top of it all.
Guiding The Light

Recently I received a rather nondescript piece of mail. What appeared to be another piece of junk mail was actually a check from Fine Art America, for a photograph that I had apparently sold! Someone had bought a 30x20 metal print of a long exposure shot taken at this very same spot. Up to that point, I had completely neglected my Fine Art America page.
Here is the link to the photograph in question.

I went by the lake this morning in hopes to get some good pictures. As I was walking on the pier towards the lighthouse, I spotted a snowy owl. It was the first time I have ever seen one, and I was surprised by how large it was. Seeing how it turned its head more than 180 degrees towards me was a bit creepy. I tried to switch to my telephoto lens, but by the time I opened the camera bag, it had already flown away. When I walked by the spot it was sitting, I saw the bloody remains of what appeared to be a bird. I guess it was having breakfast!
