Sunset By The River

The Milwaukee River that is.  Last weekend, I attended a photowalk in downtown Milwaukee.  I was surprised by how strong the attendance was, as well over a dozen people went.  There were not many people strolling the streets, however, despite the unseasonably warm weather.  Perhaps everyone was hanging out by the lake.

Taken above the parking lot.  I was not certain if it was open that early in the morning, but I overcame the fear of getting caught as I did not want to lose the opportunity to shoot the Chicago skyline from the Pier.

Traffic in the Loop was an absolute mess over the weekend.  I heard it was due to the filming of a movie.  I guess the stop and go traffic at least allowed me to get some shots through the sun roof of my car.  People probably thought I am some crazy tourist first time visiting a big city.

Looking Upon Us

Every time I go on one of the Chicago River boat tours, I am always left in awe by all the amazing architecture.  The towering man-made structures rising from both sides of the River, each with its own rich history.  It is one of the reasons why I love this city so much.

Urban Silhouette

A powerful thunderstorm hit us late Saturday afternoon.  Because of it, we had to change our plans a bit, and go somewhere indoors instead of walking outside. 

One thing I know is that sunsets right after a thunderstorm are usually very colorful and pretty.  I almost did not take this photo, as I was debating whether to make the extra stop on the way home.  I sure am glad that I did though.

The Pathway

It was ridiculously hot today.  Yet, that did not stop me from grilling this 4th of July.  It has been a while since I cooked something that required time & preparation, as these days I try not to spend too much time in the kitchen, so I can spend it with the family instead.

But I always try to cook something special during holidays.  This year I made balsamic vinegar ribs, spicy garlic grilled shrimp, Vietnamese chicken salad, grilled asparagus, and grilled brats with sauerkraut.  Will post pictures soon :)
