Sunset By The River
The Milwaukee River that is.  Last weekend, I attended a photowalk in downtown Milwaukee.  I was surprised by how strong the attendance was, as well over a dozen people went.  There were not many people strolling the streets, however, despite the unseasonably warm weather.  Perhaps everyone was hanging out by the lake.

Distorting Reality
Taking advantage of the gorgeous weather, I took the family for a river & lake boat ride this past Sunday.  Trying to figure out where I should park in the city sure gave me a headache though, given how expensive it can be.  So I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the boat tour company was offering a very good deal on validated parking at the Trump Tower, which I used to associate with all things exorbitant.
Best of all, the surrounding area provided excellent opportunities for architectural photography.

Clouds Unleashed
Long exposure shot taken at the Cloud Gate.  It’s amazing how some people barely moved as this 45 second exposure was taken :)

Lake Placid
There is a man-made lake close to where I live. It seems like every time I drive by it is around sunset (probably because I drive that way whenever I go pick up sushi for dinner), and the reflections on the water always look absolutely mesmerizing.
I finally made the decision to take the family there last week.  It was not as nice as I had envisioned, but probably because it was very chilly that day.  My son enjoyed his wagon ride, though.  It also gave me the opportunity to test out a new circular polarizer that I got.  This was one of the shots I took.

Lifeblood Of A City
Well, not technically true, since the Chicago River is not the source of drinking water for the city (Lake Michigan is).  In fact, last I heard, the river is too polluted and infested with bacteria to swim in it.  To prevent all that pollution from entering Lake Michigan, the flow of the river was actually reversed more than a century ago.
Coming back to this photograph, I have taken similar ones in the past, but focusing more on the skyline.  This time around I wanted to focus more on the water. Lately I have been enamored with how smooth and silky water looks in long exposures.
