Washed Ashore

One from this morning. Hoping for a beautiful sunrise, I was instead greeted by dull skies.
Perhaps due to the warmer weather, there were two other photographers joining me.
Now I just need some coffee…

As The Light Shines Upon Us
Sheboygan, WI
Taken this past Saturday during sunrise.  As I walked out the door, I was greeted by some of the most beautiful colors in the sky.  I quickly drove up to the lake (which luckily is only 10 minutes away), and made my way down to the shoreline (note to self: wet rocks are slippery :)).  Set my ND filter, and voila.

Most of the snow has melted, though I am still waiting for signs of spring’s arrival.

Catching a spectacular sunrise is definitely worth waking up extra early.

Across The Bridge
Brooklyn Bridge, New York
Despite bringing my tripod to New York, I left it untouched for the first two days of the trip.  It was a combination of forgetting and reluctance to lug it around, considering all the walking that we would be doing.  Finally, in our third and last day, I made the decision to catch the sunrise by the Brooklyn Bridge.  It of course meant waking up at 5 something in the morning (during vacation), but I knew I would regret it if I didn’t go.
And it certainly did not disappoint.  I was able to take some pretty fascinating photographs.  The fact that it was not crowded also helped me to frame the shots.  The trickiest part though is managing the shakes and vibrations on the bridge.
This is one of the first shots I took.  Many more to come.

So We Meet Again…
I made the decision to wake up before sunrise yesterday morning and go to the lake to take some photos.  Hoping for a spectacular sunrise, I was instead greeted with a grey cloudy sky.  Certain something I could work with, since clouds can create some pretty interesting long exposure photographs.
The pathway to the lighthouse was completely covered with layers upon layers of ice and snow.  It was the kind that was very difficult to walk on, as every step was met with ice that crushed upon contact.  This was most definitely the biggest challenge I’ve taken for the sake of photography.
The funny thing is that as I was trying to steady myself along the way, someone just casually jogged past by me, as if he were floating on top of it all.
