So We Meet Again…
I made the decision to wake up before sunrise yesterday morning and go to the lake to take some photos. Hoping for a spectacular sunrise, I was instead greeted with a grey cloudy sky. Certain something I could work with, since clouds can create some pretty interesting long exposure photographs.
The pathway to the lighthouse was completely covered with layers upon layers of ice and snow. It was the kind that was very difficult to walk on, as every step was met with ice that crushed upon contact. This was most definitely the biggest challenge I’ve taken for the sake of photography.
The funny thing is that as I was trying to steady myself along the way, someone just casually jogged past by me, as if he were floating on top of it all.

I went by the lake this morning in hopes to get some good pictures. As I was walking on the pier towards the lighthouse, I spotted a snowy owl. It was the first time I have ever seen one, and I was surprised by how large it was. Seeing how it turned its head more than 180 degrees towards me was a bit creepy. I tried to switch to my telephoto lens, but by the time I opened the camera bag, it had already flown away. When I walked by the spot it was sitting, I saw the bloody remains of what appeared to be a bird. I guess it was having breakfast!

As A New Day Welcomes Us
Taken during one of my final weekends in Chicago.
To my surprise, I’m not feeling totally devastated about no longer living in an urban area. So far I’m enjoying the outdoors and exploring my new surroundings. It can be pretty inconvenient though, as we drove close to an hour today to get to the nearest Trader Joe’s.

Reeling In The Storm
We have completed our move to Wisconsin. As things get unpacked, life is slowly getting back to normal. Well, I’m still trying to resolve internet connectivity and cellphone service issues, so we can at least stay connected to the outside world.
Life up here is very different from Chicago. A friend asked me how many stop lights there are where I live, and come to think of it, there aren’t any! It sure feels very quaint and peaceful up here.

Urban Silhouette
A powerful thunderstorm hit us late Saturday afternoon. Because of it, we had to change our plans a bit, and go somewhere indoors instead of walking outside.
One thing I know is that sunsets right after a thunderstorm are usually very colorful and pretty. I almost did not take this photo, as I was debating whether to make the extra stop on the way home. I sure am glad that I did though.

Crossing The Chicago River
Long exposure shot taken from the Montgomery Building Complex. There were actually a lot of boats ferrying tourists, along with people paddling up and down the river on that bright & sunny day.

The Pathway
It was ridiculously hot today. Yet, that did not stop me from grilling this 4th of July. It has been a while since I cooked something that required time & preparation, as these days I try not to spend too much time in the kitchen, so I can spend it with the family instead.
But I always try to cook something special during holidays. This year I made balsamic vinegar ribs, spicy garlic grilled shrimp, Vietnamese chicken salad, grilled asparagus, and grilled brats with sauerkraut. Will post pictures soon :)

Metropolitan Dawn
Photo of the Chicago skyline taken this past weekend just before sunrise. The clouds above looked like a purple fish net that was about to capture the city in its entirety.
